Write what you've seen yourself
Say what happened, where, and roughly when. "The dal at dinner was watery three nights this week" helps the next student and gives the mess committee something to act on. "The mess is trash" doesn't.
Rate meals you ate and places you've used. Don't pass on rumours as though they were yours.
Review the service, not the person
- Staff and faculty can be mentioned in their work: how a class is taught, how an office handles a request. Leave their appearance, private life and family out of it.
- Don't name another student, or describe one so that others could tell who you mean. That includes room numbers and nicknames.
- Criticism is welcome, and it can be blunt. Insults aren't criticism.
No harassment or hate
No slurs, jokes or attacks aimed at someone's caste, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, region, language, skin colour or anything else about who they are. No threats. No sexual content. No pile-ons in the replies.
Keep private things private
Don't post phone numbers, addresses, room numbers, photos of people, screenshots of private chats, marks, medical details or anything else that belongs to someone else. That applies to your own details too: the site doesn't need them.
Be honest
- Don't post something you know is false.
- Don't make extra accounts, or ask friends to post on your behalf, to push a score up or down.
- Don't promote a business, sell anything, or post links to other sites for money.
Anonymous isn't a shield
Posting without your name keeps your name away from other students, which can make it easier to be honest about something uncomfortable. It doesn't make these rules optional. Site admins see who wrote every post, and act on it when a post breaks the rules.
Complaints
- One problem per complaint, with a location if there is one.
- Check the board first. If it's already there, press "Same problem here" instead of raising it again. A complaint with forty backers carries more weight than forty copies.
- Keep it to things that can be fixed. For something you think is good or bad in general, write a review.
If something on campus is dangerous right now, tell a member of college staff or call 112. Don't wait for a reply here.
The community board and chat
- Have fun with it. Memes, campus photos, questions and banter are what it's for.
- Only post photos you took or have the right to share. No photos of other people without their say, and nothing showing someone's face in a way that mocks them.
- The rules above still apply. A made-up name doesn't change who is posting, and the site admin can see who that is.
- Report anything cruel, personal or unsafe. Three reports from different students hide it until the admin decides.
When a rule is broken
Use the Report button under the review, and say briefly what's wrong. The site admin reads every report. Depending on what they find, they can:
- leave the post up, if it doesn't break the rules
- hide it, in which case its author sees the reason
- delete it
- switch off the account, for a serious breach or a repeated one
Every one of those actions is logged. If you think a decision about your post was wrong, say so on the contact page.
